Autistic History Month was started by a group of Autistics in 2013. The month of November was chosen because the first day of the month is Autistics Speaking Day, a day established in 2010 for Autistics to speak, write, blog, paint, compose, and otherwise express the lived experiences of autism. Autistics Speaking Day seemed like an auspicious way to begin something so important as Autistic History Month.

This blog is the hub for Autistic History Month and features the work of Autistics and allies who are celebrating the rich history and culture of Autistics.

You can contact Autistic History Month to submit a contribution for publication or for any other reason at autistichistory@gmail.com
